I laughed out loud when I read this and will definitely be visiting just to meet the people who obviously share a similar sense of humour to me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SURFER BOY

It was Surfer Boy's 40th birthday during the week and tonight we are taking 40 family and  friends to see his favourite movie.  It may come as a surprise but his favourite film is the 1956 musical -

HIGH SOCIETY.

Not the movie anyone was expecting - except his family who are responsible for him knowing every word and song.  Coming from a family with 4 sisters he was bound to be influenced and I for one am rapt that we are seeing this and not his second favourite film - PLATOON.

C.K. Dexter-Haven, a successful popular jazz musician, lives in a mansion near his ex-wife's Tracy Lord's family estate. She is on the verge of marrying a man blander and safer than Dex, who tries to win Tracy's heart again. Mike Connor, an undercover tabloid reporter, also falls for Tracy while covering the nuptials for Spy magazine. Tracy must choose between the three men as she discovers that "safe" can mean "deadly dull" when it comes to husbands and life.(IMDB)

Nearly There

Well we've managed to move our staircase without too much drama although I will admit I was close to chucking the whole thing. We're anticipating that within the next couple of days we will be clear of council for the foreseeable future - you can imagine how pleased I will be about that.
Surfer Boy even managed to find a place for the fridge in the re-design which pleases me muchly.
Me thinks we might get this thing built after all.

You'd think I'd be more composed having read the books and seen the mini series before but I'm just as pathetically involved as the first time I met Orry and George.

Reno Update - you don't want to know!

After 18 months our council has decided it doesn't like where our stairs are!!!  Why would they sign the permit if they are going to change their minds later?

I can't even begin to understand how they work.

The upshot is we have to find somewhere else for our stairs - can you say 'complete re-design' anyone?

I'm not big on Tacos but I sooo want to hang out at ROCKAWAY TACOS.

Chef Andrew Field is located in Rockaway beach, Queens, New York where he lives, surfs, reads, and cooks some of the best tacos in the area. He raises his own honey bees on his roof, grows all of his herbs and buys the bulk of his ingredients and vegetables from local farmers. This is a guy I'd love to meet - sounds like he has it all worked out.
